At the DMACC Urban Campus, Iowa artist
Ron Dinsdale worked with the construction operators to set up the
Path of Peace statue. It’s located on the south side of campus, facing i-235. The 17
foot tall statue is three sculpted doves symbolizing freedom and rights. The
10-ton sculpture is made from Indiana Bedford limestone, the same material that
was used to build the Iowa State Capitol building more than 100 years ago. Path of
Peace was commissioned by Iowa Peacemakers Monument Incorporated. They
hope to create other piece monuments along i-235 in downtown Des Moines.
